Dear sponsor,

My name is Andzhela, and I am 8 years old. My parents don’t work. I don’t have siblings. My best friends are Daryna and Evelina because it’s interesting to spend time with them and I can share my secrets with them. We like playing catch-up together. I like celebrating Christmas and look forward to presents. On the summer holidays, I go out, walk to the river, and walk around the city. I also spend a lot of time with my friends. I am in the 2nd grade and get to school either by bus or by bike. My classes finish in the afternoon. What I like about school is that I have art and music lessons and attend various events for children with my classmates. My favorite subject is Art. When I grow up, I want to be a designer or a photographer. Thank you for choosing me! Thank you for the present!

Caseworker’s comments:

Andzhela is an energetic and respectful child who happily assists her mother with household chores. She is sociable, creative, and enjoys expressing her artistic side through dancing. Despite her parents living separately, they maintain an amicable relationship and co-parent Andzhela together.

Her father, who is currently unemployed due to disability, remains actively involved in her life, regularly spending time with her. Andzhela lives with her mother, Oksana, and grandmother in Oksana’s apartment. Oksana, who has cerebral palsy, manages the household with assistance from her mother and receives disability benefits.

Due to her illness, her mother cannot work and receives approximately 4000 UAH/140$CAD in government disability support. Additionally, her grandmother, who lives with them, receives a pension of 150$CAD. Together, they have only 300$CAD to cover all monthly expenses, including utilities, Andzhela’s extra school costs, and food. This amount is insufficient to make ends meet especially with the high cost of living in Ukraine due to the war and inflation. Living conditions are well, the family keeps the apartment neat and tidy. Oksana’s mother contributes financially through her job, but the family still requires support for Andzhela’s educational and developmental needs, including assistance with food supplies. Andzhela and her family are in dire need of your support.
