My name is Arina, and I am six years old. I am in the first grade. I have a younger brother Yelysei who is three. I live with my parents in a city. My dad is a minister at a rehabilitation center for alcohol and drug addicts. My mom does the housework. Her name is Anna. As for food, I like chicken chops and syrnyky (fried pancakes filled with cottage cheese) that my mom makes. I am a very active and communicative girl, so I enjoy spending time with children and playing active games with them. I also go to art club and am interested in English. I have a lot of friends who l like playing active games with. Their names are Alisa and Ahnesa. I also have another two friends, Oleksandra and Veronika, who I like doing homework with. However, her journey through school has been challenging; she struggles with reading, maintaining focus, and concentration. Despite these hurdles, Arina remains gentle, cheerful, and remarkably caring, often taking on responsibilities beyond her years, such as looking after her younger brother, Yelysei, and tidying up her toys.
Her interests span across sports, drawing, and learning English, and she actively participates in Sunday school, summer camps, and children’s events. Unfortunately, Arina also battles health issues, including flat feet and spine problems diagnosed since the tender age of three. The treatments she requires, such as massage therapies, physical therapy, and specialized footwear, pose a significant financial burden on her family.
Arina’s parents, Andrii and Anna, exemplify resilience and dedication in their roles as ministers, despite facing their own health challenges. Andrii, once a victim of addiction, now leads a rehabilitation center, while Anna juggles her responsibilities as a janitor while caring for their children. Their modest living conditions, with moldy windows and deteriorating furniture in their rented apartment, reflect the financial strain they endure.
Despite their hardships, the family remains steadfast in their commitment to their ministry and each other. Yet, they struggle to make ends meet, unable to afford basic necessities like new clothes or toys for their children. Anna works part-time as a janitor to cover educational expenses, while Andrii perseveres in his ministry as a Deacon, despite his health limitations. He used to have stomach ulcers and as a result he now has hepatitis C, so he follows a special diet and takes medicine on a regular basis. He also has osteomyelitis, and varicose veins.
In the face of adversity, this family stands as a beacon of resilience and faith.
