Dear sponsor,
My name is Artem, and I’m 6 years old. I live in a pretty city with lots of green parks. Sadly, my dad isn’t with us anymore because of the war. My mom works at a toy store, and I love it there because there are so many toys! I have three cousins, but they’re much older than me, so they don’t play with me a lot. My best friend is Maks, and he lives on my street. We love playing tag, hide-and-seek, pretending to be police officers, building with Lego, and riding scooters together. My whole family—my mom, grandma, and grandpa—celebrates Christmas together. I spend my summer at home, but I’ll really understand what summer break is next year when I’m out of kindergarten. Right now, I go to kindergarten, but I’m going to start school in September. The school is 30 minutes away from my house, and I can’t wait to see what school is like! Like other kids, I love sweets, and my favorite foods are borshch, mashed potatoes, and pasta, so my mom cooks them a lot. I also love birthdays because there’s always cake! In my free time, I like to play outside on my scooter, ride my bike, and play football. I also do taekwondo. I keep changing my mind about what I want to be when I grow up. Sometimes I want to be a football player, then a coach, or maybe a police officer, or even an architect to build the coolest house. Dear Sponsor, thank you so much for helping me and my family. I would love to get a letter from you and hear about your hobbies and favorite things.
Love,
Artem
Caseworker Comments:
Artem is full of energy, always moving around and knowing exactly what he wants. He has a big heart for animals and takes great care of his dog. He loves meeting new people and easily makes friends with other kids, though he can be a little shy around grown-ups. Being outside is his favorite—he loves playing, exploring, and being anywhere but home, where there’s no one to play with. Even though he’s young, he’s responsible and takes care of himself by keeping clean, making his bed, folding his clothes, and picking up his toys. He loves to play, draw, and ride his scooter. He also helps his grandfather and sometimes even helps his mom with chores like vacuuming. He’s always eager to do his chores so he can go outside and play. His favorite activities are Taekwondo, football, and gymnastics. Right now, he’s taking a school preparation course, and he enjoys putting puzzles together and playing board games with his grandfather.
Artem’s mother is raising him all by herself, with some help from her parents. His grandfather had a stroke six years ago and needs a lot of care, so his grandmother can’t always help with Artem. Sometimes, his father’s mother helps by taking Artem for walks or buying him things he needs. Artem’s mom works very hard at a non-profit called ‘Heroes Children,’ but her income is small, and she often has to stay home to care for Artem when he’s sick. She’s constantly looking for extra work to support the family, but it’s tough because there’s no one else to look after him. She’s also still grieving the loss of her husband and struggles with this pain every day. She could really use some spiritual support, and with HART’s and your help, we hope to offer her comfort and invite the family to church.
The family’s living conditions are mediocre. Their home is old but well-maintained. The house was built in the 1960s and has a small yard where their dog stays, but they don’t have a garden. Sadly, the house was damaged by bombings due to the war, leaving a crack in the wall, and the roof needs fixing. Artem, being so full of life and energy, really needs a male role model in his life. His mom does everything she can, but he needs more attention than she can give alone.
Your support would mean the world to Artem and his mother during these difficult times. It would help ease their burden and bring some much-needed light into their lives.
