Dear sponsor,
My name is Artem, and I’m 10 years old. I live in a small village in the Rivne region. I live with my mom and my brothers. My dad doesn’t live with us. My mom stays home because she takes care of my little brother, and we’re waiting for a new baby to be born soon! I love my brothers, Erik and Tymur, so much. Tymur is really good at remembering things, so he helps me with my multiplication tables. Erik is learning to say words, and he sounds really cute when he talks.
My best friends are Sashko and Ruslana, and we’re in the same class at school. I have another friend named Nazar who lives on my street. We like to play games together, and our favorite game is football (soccer). At Christmas, I’m always with my brothers and friends. When I’m not at school, I like to play ball games at the stadium or go for walks with my friends. When I grow up, I want to be a police officer so I can help people and keep things safe. I would really like to know more about you. Do you like sports or football? What do you like to do for fun? What’s your favorite season? My mom is having a hard time taking care of us because there are three of us and a new baby coming soon. It would mean a lot if you could help us. I want to help others when I grow up too.
Thank you so much!
Caseworker’s Comments:
Artem is a joyful, curious, and kind-hearted boy. He has a close bond with his family and loves helping his mother by playing with his younger brothers, cleaning up, tidying his toys, and even going shopping. He also supports our soldiers by writing letters to them and prays for peace to return to Ukraine. Though he hasn’t been to church yet, Artem has memorized “The Lord’s Prayer” and prays for all of Ukraine. He enjoys learning about Christian values at school.
Artem’s mother, Alyona, successfully finished high school and earned a degree in journalism from a higher education institution. She worked in her field for a while, but after becoming pregnant, she had to leave her job to care for her children. Her own mother, who is disabled, lives alone in Rivne, and not much is known about her. Alyona and her children live in her grandfather’s old house. When her grandfather was alive, he feared Alyona would take ownership of the house, so he burned all her documents, along with the house deeds. The family hasn’t been able to recover these documents yet.
Recently, Alyona gave birth to her fourth child. Her partner, who is the father of this child, now lives with them. He cannot work due to serious arm surgery, and he worries that if he goes outside, he might be sent to the army. Despite their struggles, Alyona is a loving and open mother, ready to share her story to seek help for her children. She is deeply concerned about their well-being, though she doesn’t worry about herself.
Alyona and her partner do not drink alcohol, and their children are respectful and help around the house. The family urgently needs support with food, clothes, and shoes. The mother teaches her children to love God and turns to Him for help. Whenever possible, we offer financial assistance, but we will be incredibly grateful to God and anyone who feels called to help this family. Alyona’s children are growing up in difficult conditions, and we pray that someone will come alongside them to see God’s work in their lives.
The family lives in a house with three rooms and a kitchen, but it’s in awful and terrible condition. The house is old, hasn’t been repaired in years, and has no water or gas supply. It is heated with wood stoves that the grandfather added to each room. The doors and windows need to be replaced, and the floor is in desperate need of repair, as there’s only sand covered with linoleum. The children need beds with mattresses, a shelf, and a writing table. Despite their hardships, this family continues to lean on God, and we pray that help will come their way.
