The child’s story
Hello! My name is Artem and I am five years old. I live in the village of Novotroyitske. My father Dmytro catches fish and sells it. My mother does not work because she takes care of my younger brother Bohdan. I love him very much. My best friend is the boy who lives nearby. His name is Hleb and we enjoy playing soccer together. Christmas and my birthday are my favorite holidays. At Christmas, our family goes to church. I don’t go to school yet but I can already count and I am learning the alphabet. My favorite food is porridge and fish soup. I also like the cakes my mother bakes. On holidays, I get candies and my mum bakes a cake. At the weekends, we visit our grandparents who live in the neighboring village. I help my grandpa take care of the household. I want to be a doctor when I grow up to help those who are sick.

Thank you very much for your willingness to help me!

Thank you for caring about me!

I am grateful to you for everything and looking forward to hearing back from you.

Case-worker’s comments 2020
Artem is a cheerful boy. However, he is a bit introverted. He likes to play with his friends and he trusts only those friends whom he knows really well. The situation within the family is not very good. Artem’s father does not have a permanent job. He spends his free time with his wife and kids. He also likes to drink alcohol, so there are often quarrels which sometimes result in fights. The father does not get along with his parents-in-law, so he avoids meetings with them on holidays and in everyday life. One can see that the mother takes proper care of her children because they always look good and neat. She spends all the time with them. The family rents a house. Their income is not stable, so they do not always have the opportunity to buy food or clothes. The family gets a child benefit which is quite low. The living conditions of the family are poor and the house needs to be repaired. The mother keeps the house neat and clean. Her husband does help around the house at all. The food packages from the Child Sponsorship Program will make sure that Artem and his little brother Bohdan have meals even when Farther is not earning any money.

Visits from the caseworkers will be an encouragement to the Mother who works hard to take care of the 3 “men” in her life.

We pray they will grow and become a strong self sufficient family one day.
