Dear sponsor,

My name is Angelina, and I am Daniel’s aunt. I love babysitting and playing with him. Since he is very young, I am writing this letter on his behalf.

Daniel is two years old. He lives in a village with his mom, his favorite aunt, and his grandma. He doesn’t know where his dad is because his dad has never come to see him. His mom is always with him, and he loves her very much. After school, I play with him, and he looks forward to it. We have fun together, and I teach him to run and play catch.

Since he’s still small, he is always with his mom during vacations and holidays.

Daniel likes to eat everything sweet, but his mom doesn’t allow him to eat too much, so he eats what she gives him. On holidays, he enjoys candy, and I sometimes bring him lollipops from school. Daniel wants his mom to always be with him and never get sick, and he wishes for his aunt and grandma to be happy. Thank you, dear sponsor, for finding us and wanting to help us. Maybe when Daniel grows up, he will be able to meet you.

For now, he’s off to run to his mom.

With love,

Daniel

Caseworker’s comments:

Daniel is an active toddler, brimming with energy and curiosity, eager to explore the world around him. As he takes his first steps and learns to articulate his thoughts, he fills his family with immense joy. His mother, aunt, and grandmother find in him a source of inspiration and motivation. Daniel particularly delights in drawing and using his vivid imagination during arts and crafts sessions with his aunt, where he expresses himself creatively. He is a truly happy child, enveloped in the love and warmth of his family.

I have known this family for a long time, including Daniel’s mother, Marina, who was once a participant in our Christian camps, Your Way. These camps had a positive influence on her during her youth. However, life took a challenging turn when Marina’s husband left her with a child, leading to a period of depression and a suicide attempt. Thankfully, she received timely medical intervention. Marina chooses not to speak about her husband, and we respect her privacy in this matter.

Despite these challenges, the family maintains strong bonds. Marina lives with her supportive mother and younger sister. Previously, they were registered as a low-income family due to Marina’s mother’s struggles with alcohol. However, she has since made significant changes, quitting alcohol, securing a job as a school technical worker, and actively helping to care for Daniel and support Marina. Marina is dedicated to raising her son, engaging in educational activities, cooking, and enjoying walks together. She is currently on maternity leave and does not work outside the home.

The family is in need of financial assistance, humanitarian aid, and social support. Their home requires significant repairs, including connecting water and heating systems, and they lack essential furniture and household items. The living conditions are terrible and awful, with an old house that has a dangerous, smoke-emitting stove and a deteriorating floor. There is no bathroom or proper kitchen facilities. Marina’s mother has replaced the windows, but the house still needs extensive renovation.

Daniel and his mother live in his grandmother’s house, as his father left before his birth and is now officially divorced from Marina. The relationships within the family are positive, with the grandmother providing financial support and child-rearing assistance, and the younger sister helping to care for Daniel.

The family urgently needs baby supplies, including food, diapers, and clothing, as well as psychological support for Marina, who continues to experience stress. Improving their living environment would greatly benefit the well-being of the grandmother, mother, and children, fostering a nurturing atmosphere for Daniel’s growth and happiness.
