Dear sponsor,
Hi! My name is Oleksandr, and I am 7 years old. I live in a village. My dad is in the army, and my mom is going to have a baby soon. She doesn’t have a job right now. My best friend is Nikita. We’ve been friends since kindergarten, and we love playing soccer together.
I celebrate Christmas with my mom. In the summer, I like to play lots of games. I’m in the 1st grade, and I go to school every day. My mom, or sometimes my brother or sister, takes me there. I stay at school for 5 hours. I like school because I get to learn and play. My favorite class is PE because I get to run and have fun.
At home, I like to eat mashed potatoes, soup, or meat. My favorite snacks are cake, sandwiches, and juice. On special days, we have yummy treats.
When I have free time, I love to play. When I grow up, I want to be a policeman.
Thank you so much for wanting to help me!
Your friend,
Oleksandr
Caseworker Comments:
Meet Oleksandr, a sweet and calm boy, full of energy and joy. He has a passion for soccer and loves to draw. Wherever he goes, he quickly makes friends, and his kind heart shines through. His younger brother, Mark, is his favorite person, even though Mark is only 2 years old. Oleksandr loves teaching him new things, and they are inseparable. He also loves helping his mother around the house, setting the table for dinner and cleaning up afterward. Oleksandr is truly a kind and thoughtful boy.
Sadly, the family lives in extreme poverty. They don’t have a home of their own and are currently living with relatives. Although the family gets along well, the stepfather sometimes struggles with alcohol. This is the mother’s fourth marriage, and though the parents’ relationship is stable, the children come from different fathers, each with a different last name. The mother just had her seventh child in June 2023, and her husband is currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The family is in desperate need of support. The mother cannot work because she is caring for the newborn, and none of the previous fathers provide financial help. The children go to a special school in their village, but the family receives no assistance from the government. Their living conditions are heartbreaking. Nine people live in two tiny rooms and a small kitchen in their uncle’s house. The house has no running water, and for a long time, there was no electricity. There is no bathroom, no shower, and no indoor restroom. The stove they use to heat the house is broken and in need of repair. Gas cannot be connected, as it is too expensive.
The children sleep on the floor, and they need a bunk bed. The house itself needs repairs to be livable. Despite these challenges, Oleksandr and his siblings have hope. This family longs to attend Christian camps, read Christian books, and hear God’s Word. They do activities based on Bible stories, and we pray that these seeds of faith grow strong in their hearts. I ask the Lord for His help and guidance for these children. I pray they hear His call and follow Him.
We will be forever grateful for the sponsor who partners with us to bring hope, care, and God’s love to Oleksandr and his family.
