Dear sponsor,
Hi! My name is Petro, and I’m 12 years old. I really love playing soccer and building things with LEGO. I don’t have a mom, and my dad is in prison. I have two sisters who are 14 and 15, and they go to school too. I’m in 6th grade, and I take the school bus. I’m at school until 3 o’clock every day. My favorite classes are physical education and shop class. I also enjoy drawing. My favorite food is pizza and fried potatoes. When I grow up, I want to be a construction worker. I’d invite you to Ukraine, but since we’re at war, maybe we could go fishing together someday when the war is over.
I want to thank God for sending good people like you. I’m so excited to get to know you!
Your new friend,
Petro O.
Caseworker’s Comments:
Meet Petro! He is a wonderful 12-year-old boy known for his energetic and cheerful personality. Petro is responsible and always shows appreciation for the people in his life. He gets along well with everyone around him, bringing joy to his friends and family.
Petro loves to stay active. His favorite pastimes include playing soccer and basketball, and he enjoys building amazing things with LEGO. At school, he really likes physical education and drawing, where he can express his creativity.
Despite the hardships he has faced, Petro remains a happy child full of energy. He has a positive outlook on life, always looking for good in every situation. Petro’s kindness and determination shine through, making him truly special. He dreams of a brighter future and is grateful for the support he receives.
I’ve known this family for about five years. We met through the state social service, which included the children on the list for the camp, where I volunteer. Along with other volunteers, we keep in touch with this family regularly.
The children first attended the camp after their father tragically murdered their mother, and they witnessed this terrible event. After their mother’s death, their aunt took custody of them. She has her own children but treats the kids with love and care. She ensures they are comfortable and teaches them the importance of kindness and hard work.
The children are very dedicated to their studies. Petro’s older sister is even a college student! They also help with household chores, learning responsibility along the way. They have a positive attitude towards Christianity, attending Sunday school and participating in Bible lessons.
Despite everything they’ve been through, this family shows strength and resilience. They support each other and strive to create a brighter future. It’s truly inspiring to see how they continue to grow and find joy in their lives.
Their living situation is satisfactory. The house is clean and safe, with good hygiene standards. It has gas supply connected, which makes it comfortable, but it really needs a bathroom for better living conditions. While the house isn’t new, it is well-maintained and has two rooms, a kitchen, and a corridor. The exterior is undamaged, the roof doesn’t leak, and the windows and doors close tightly. The house is furnished and has all the necessary items for daily life, and the family keeps it clean with regular cleaning.
However, the children need psychological and social support. They are deeply worried about their father returning from prison, and this causes them a lot of stress. They also need clothing, food, and school supplies like stationery to help with their studies.
We ask that you please keep Petro and his family in your prayers. Your support means so much to them, and it helps them feel loved and cared for during this difficult time. Thank you for being there for Petro and his family!
