Dear sponsor,
My name is Roman, and I am three years old. I live in a small town. My mother stays at home to take care of us, and I have four sisters. Iryna and I attend the same kindergarten, although we are in different groups. Anastasiia is in the third grade, Kateryna is in the fourth grade, and Svitlana is in the sixth grade. My father works in construction and does his best to support our family, but his income is not stable. We currently rent an apartment, as we do not have a home of our own. It is often difficult for my father to provide for all of us. My sisters are my best friends, and I also have a cat that I love very much. I enjoy playing with my toys and eating everything my mom cooks for me. When I grow up, I want to become a driver.
Dear sponsor, we would be truly grateful for your support. Thank you for considering our family.
Your friend,
Roman
Caseworker’s Comments:
Roman is a bright, affectionate, and remarkably thoughtful four-year-old. With a warm heart and a keen sense of responsibility, he looks after his mother and siblings with gentle care. His eyes sparkle with excitement as he races his toy cars across the floor, and lately, his fascination with dinosaurs has taken over, he eagerly memorizes their names and proudly stomps around as a mighty T. rex. Always eager to help, Roman listens attentively and takes the initiative in tidying up his toys, showing his mother that he is growing into a considerate and dependable child.
The Shostak family is struggling to raise five young children under profoundly difficult and terrible conditions. They live in a cramped, two-room apartment rented in Drohobych, where seven people, both parents and their five children, share a modest space that falls far below basic living standards. The children sleep together in a tiny bedroom, with two of them sharing two old, unstable beds while the youngest, Roman, sleeps in a crib. Their parents, Olena and Yurii, have no bedroom of their own and instead sleep on a broken, worn-out sofa in the living room. The apartment is in a state of disrepair, the furniture is damaged and brittle with age, the wooden floors are rotting in places, the plumbing is rusted and failing, and most household appliances are either outdated or no longer functioning. The family’s financial hardship leaves them unable to afford a better home. Neither Olena nor Yurii inherited property, and they lack the financial means to purchase or rent anything more suitable. Every day, they make do with what little they have.
Olena remains at home to care for the children, unable to work outside, while Yurii takes on intermittent jobs as a handyman on construction sites. His income is unpredictable and painfully insufficient to provide for their growing children. As a result, their kids wear old clothing and do not always receive proper nutrition.
Even amid their struggles, Olena and Yurii are devoted, loving parents. They lead a sincere and healthy lifestyle and cultivate a warm, affectionate home despite their hardships. A teacher familiar with the family’s situation, working closely with their caseworker, has recommended the Shostaks for sponsorship, recognizing both their urgent need for help and their unwavering dedication to their children.
This family is in desperate need of assistance. They require immediate support to secure proper nutrition, meet their essential needs, and provide a safe, nurturing environment where their children can thrive.
