Dear Sponsor!

It is Victoria’s mom writing to you. Life put me in a position that I have no choice but ask for help. I am a mother of three children. I had my youngest child, Victoria when I was 39, and I am very happy for such a God’s gift. She’s my comfort and mirth, and I thank God for all my children. Unfortunately, it is challenging for me and my husband to maintain the needs of a growing family financially. My husband often doesn’t feel well, and because of that he can’t do his job properly and does not work 8 hours a day. That’s why we’re frequently short of money, even for food. It hurts when my children ask me for a bun, and I can’t do anything about it. Although, we’re better now that my husband drinks less and is able to work more.  We would like to have a life were we can care for our children and  our selves but it is not possible now with three adults in the house and two children.

I am sincerely grateful for your willingness to help our family. May God bless you for your kindness and generosity!

Viktoriia is a very smart and cheerful girl who likes painting with felt-tip pens and playing with dolls. She gladly helps her mother with housework: she sweeps the floor, washes the dishes and even tries to knead the dough. There are three kids in the family. Serhii, the oldest son, goes to vocational school. Nazar is a fourth-grader and Viktoriia who is the youngest child. Their mother is a member of our church. She is on maternity leave. Her husband is 53 years old and has serious health problems: he had a micro-stroke two years ago and he has schizophrenia. He often has headache and can talk to himself from time to time thinking that he is talking to another person. Sometimes it seems to him that someone is bothering him, which makes him aggressive. He also used to drink alcohol a lot. Vikrtoriia`s father is a jack of all trades but because of his health problems, some people don`t want to hire him and he loses his income. Viktoriia`s grandpa used to help the family but he came down with cancer and had surgery, and now he is no longer able to support them. The financial situation is very difficult: very often the mother lacks money to buy food, clothes and footwear. She is quite worried about her husband`s health. If it gets worse, he will not be able to work and provide for his family. The family lives in a 5-room house which they we given by the grandpa. The living conditions are safe and some rooms need improvements. They are a low-income family who do not have the health or ability to break the cycle of poverty.

When Serhi has completed his vocation school he will find a good paying job and be able to help his family. While he is going to school his parents are helping him.  As the youngest Viktoria does not understand that poverty mean asking for a bun and being told they have no bun. She is a happy helper and her loving family are doing all they care to see that she has a good childhood.  As her sponsor you will get to see her grow up and strive for an education and career. She will one day take care of her mother.
