Dear Sponsor,

Hi! My name is Viktoriia, and I’m 11 years old. I live in a village. My mom works at a school, and I have a twin brother named Artem. He’s really kind, brave, and even knows how to cook soup! He’s my best friend, and we do everything together. We love playing outside and riding our bikes in the summer. At Christmas, we decorate our tree, and on Sundays, Artem and I go to church together. I’m in the 5th grade, and my school is close to our house. My classes start at 9 in the morning and end at 2 in the afternoon. My favorite subject is Polish, but I don’t really like math. Sometimes, I don’t like how my classmates act, but I still try to enjoy school. I love sweets, especially chocolate bars! At home, we usually eat soup, and on holidays, we get candies, which makes me really happy. In my free time, I like to draw. When I grow up, I want to be a doctor so I can help people feel better. Thank you so much for reading my letter. I hope to hear from you soon!

With love,

Viktoriia

Caseworker Comments:

Meet Viktoriia, a bright and energetic young girl whose joyfulness lights up every room she enters. With a heart full of love for her mother and her twin brother, she brings warmth and laughter to those around her. Her big smile is contagious, and her bubbly personality makes it hard not to smile along with her. Though she can be a little distracted at times, it’s only because she’s so eager to share her excitement and energy with the world. Viktoriia loves singing and drawing, and she’s always ready to lend a helping hand at home, especially when it comes to washing the dishes. Her creativity, kindness, and joyful heart make her truly special, and she continues to inspire those around her with her love, laughter, and endless enthusiasm for life.

The family is in urgent need of support as they navigate incredibly difficult circumstances with courage and resilience. Ms. Nina, a single mother, has opened her heart and home to two adopted children, Viktoriia and her twin brother Artem, both of whom come from a deeply traumatic past. After losing their biological parents, the children were placed in the care of their grandmother, who sadly subjected them to abuse—forcing them to work, withholding food, and ultimately abandoning them. In the midst of national hardship and war, Ms. Nina made a selfless and life-changing decision. Though she had originally planned to adopt only one child, she bravely chose to take in both siblings, determined to give them the love and stability they had never known. For the past eight months, she has been raising them on her own, without any state financial assistance, relying solely on her modest income as a secretary. Despite the financial strain, she provides a safe, clean, and loving home, doing everything she can to meet their needs.

The children, still healing from their early trauma, face emotional and behavioral challenges. Viktoriia and Artem struggle with trust and sometimes express their pain through difficult behavior, with Artem especially finding it hard to open up. Yet, Ms. Nina remains patient and devoted, guiding them with compassion. She encourages their spiritual growth, bringing them to Sunday school where they are beginning to rebuild trust and discover the comfort of God’s love. Their home, though modest, is a place of safety. The apartment is warm and has running water and an indoor toilet, but it hasn’t been renovated in over 20 years. Much of the furniture is old and broken, and the kitchen lacks basic storage, forcing Ms. Nina to store food on the windowsill. She sleeps on an old sofa so the children can have a proper bed, which she recently saved up to buy. The bathroom is bare, with no shelving or storage. Still, the home is kept clean and welcoming—a reflection of Ms. Nina’s strength and care. With long-term support, this family can begin to heal, grow, and build a brighter future. Sponsorship for Viktoriia would not only ease the burden on Ms. Nina but also offer hope, stability, and the chance for a young girl to thrive after so much hardship.
