There is no social safety-net for those with disabilities in Eastern Europe. Most people with special needs are relegated to a life sentence in their apartment with little or no interaction with others.
Children with disabilities have little access to specialized medical care or physiotherapy. Even if available, most families could not afford the cost. Most will not be given the opportunity to lead a productive life.
