Dear Sponsor,
My name is Adelina, and I recently turned three years old. I live with my mother in a beautiful village. My grandparents, whom I loved very much, have passed away, and my father is no longer with us. I miss them deeply.
I have seven cousins—five boys and two girls—who are all older than me. They care for me when my mother is at work, and I am especially close to Khrystyna and Damir, who spend the most time with me.
I attend kindergarten, and my mother takes me there by bicycle. We play, do morning exercises, eat, and take naps. My favorite foods are meat cutlets with potatoes and milk soups, though I happily eat whatever my mother prepares. She works at a pizzeria and makes delicious pizzas, which I always look forward to.
I hope to grow up quickly so I can join my cousins at school.
Thank you sincerely for your kindness and care. May the Lord bless you and your family. I would be very happy to get to know you better and to receive letters from you.
Love,
Adelina
Caseworker Comments:
Adelina is a gentle, cheerful, and remarkably kind little girl who lives with her mother in a village. At only three years old, she already shows a calm and friendly nature. She loves playing with other children, riding her balance bike, and carefully packing her toys away each evening to keep her small room tidy. The family’s dog and cat are her constant companions, and she lovingly helps care for them. Together with her mother, she occasionally attends services at the Revival Church, where she feels safe and welcomed.
Behind her bright smile, however, is a story marked by deep hardship.
Adelina is growing up in a single parent household. In 2025, when she was just two years old, her father abandoned the family. He has offered no support since then and shows no interest in his daughter’s life. Adelina’s mother, Karina, has carried the full weight of raising her child alone.
Tragically, Karina has also endured the loss of both her parents. Her mother passed away in 2023, and her father in 2026. With their deaths, she lost not only her loved ones but also the only people who could have helped her navigate the challenges of single motherhood. Today, she stands entirely without family support.
To provide for her daughter, Karina works long shifts as a cook in a pizzeria. She often returns home late at night, exhausted, relying on relatives to pick Adelina up from kindergarten. Despite her dedication, her income is not enough to meet even the family’s most basic needs.
The home they live in is a small house inherited from Karina’s parents, and it is in severe disrepair. The structure is old and uninsulated. A single wood stove heats only two rooms, leaving the kitchen, bathroom, and hallway cold throughout the year. Before he passed away, Adelina’s grandfather managed to renovate the kitchen, but the rest of the house remains unfinished. The toilet is outdoors. There is no sewage system. Water is not piped into the bathroom. The house has no gas supply. The walls are stripped, plaster crumbles from humidity, and the ceiling has holes that let in cold air and moisture.
These conditions weigh heavily on Adelina’s well being. Although her general health is currently stable, the lack of proper heating, nutrition, clothing, and hygiene resources threatens her development. She needs safe living conditions, warm seasonal clothing, nutritious food, and opportunities to grow, learn, and simply enjoy being a child.
Sponsorship through the HART Child Sponsorship Program would be truly life changing for Adelina and her mother. Your support would help provide essential food, clothing, hygiene items, and improved living conditions. It would ease the burden on Karina, who is doing everything she can despite overwhelming circumstances. Most importantly, it would give Adelina something every child deserves: a sense of security, care, and hope for a brighter future.
