My name is Anhelina, and I’m 12 years old. I live in a village. My mom works as a technician, and my dad is in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I have two older sisters, and they already have their own little babies who I love a lot. My best friend is Erika. We’ve been friends for a really long time, and we love playing volleyball together with our other friends.
I’m in sixth grade, and I walk to school every day. I spend 7 hours at school. My favorite subjects are PE, Labor Training, and Art. I don’t really like Math, but I still try my best in all the subjects. PE is my favorite one! I love eating borsch and different sweets. On holidays, we have yummy salads and special dishes.
When I have free time, I like to hang out with my friends. I dream of becoming a soldier one day to defend our country. I’m really thankful to you, my Sponsor, for wanting to help me and my family. I can’t wait to get a letter from you!

Anhelina is a bright, lively, and cheerful child, known for her vibrant spirit and infectious kindness. Her compassion shines through in her interactions with others, and she possesses a generous heart that always seeks to lend a helping hand. Among her many contributions at home, Anhelina enjoys babysitting and playing with her baby nephew, showcasing her nurturing nature.
Her favorite pastimes include dancing, participating in theater, engaging in arts and crafts, and taking walks with her friends. Anhelina also cherishes her time at Sunday school, where she eagerly learns more about Jesus and deepens her faith. In school, she excels in Physical Education and music class, where her enthusiasm and talent truly stand out.
Overcoming Challenges Together
The family was previously registered as low-income due to the mother’s struggles with alcohol abuse. However, she has since made significant changes in her life, stopping her alcohol consumption and securing a job as a technical worker at a local school. After work, she dedicates her time to caring for her grandson and supporting her children while managing a small household. The mother has worked hard to improve their situation and is now focused on raising Anhelina and her grandchildren.
While the family has overcome many obstacles, they still face challenges. The mother and father lived together without formal marriage, and the father is currently serving in the army. The relationships between the mother and her children are strong. The two older children are now adults, with one living with their mother and the other living independently. Although they no longer hold low-income status, the mother continues to care for Anhelina and support her older children.
The Family’s Need for Support
Anhelina and her family are currently in need of assistance from HART. They require financial support, humanitarian aid, and help with communication, as well as critical repairs to their home. Specifically, they need to connect their water and heating systems, acquire kitchen furniture, wardrobes for the children, hygiene kits, clothing, and shoes. The family is reaching out for support, care, and connection, as a positive environment can greatly influence their well-being.
We have known this family for a long time, including Anhelina’s eldest sister, Marina, who attended our Christian camps, “Your Way,” as a minor. The camps had a profound impact on her life, but after marrying, she faced challenges when her husband left her with a child, leading to a period of depression. Despite these difficulties, the family maintains strong bonds with one another. Marina lives with her mother, her son, and her sister Anhelina.
Living Conditions and Urgent Needs
Anhelina has been experiencing issues with her eyesight, as she has not had a medical checkup in the past. She has attended Christian camps that have positively influenced her development, nurturing her emotional and open-hearted nature. However, the family’s living conditions are terrible and awful. They live in a two-room home heated by an oven, which produces dangerous fumes that pose a serious risk to their health. Cooking also generates fumes, adding to the hazardous environment.
The home is in disrepair, with an old, rotting floor that poses safety concerns. There is no bathroom or proper water system, and the kitchen lacks essential furniture and appliances. The family urgently needs repairs, including the installation of a new toilet and bathroom, new furniture, doors, beds, wardrobes, and a heating system. The mother has made efforts to improve their living space by installing new windows, but the house requires extensive repairs and maintenance to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
Despite these challenges, the mother strives to keep their living spaces clean, and they have carpets inside. However, the lack of adequate furniture and proper living conditions in the kitchen remains a significant hurdle.
Anhelina and her family are resilient individuals who have faced many trials, yet they continue to support one another with love and determination. With the right assistance, they can transform their living conditions and create a nurturing environment for Anhelina to thrive.
