My name is Anhelina, and I am 11 years old. I live in a beautiful town in Ukraine. I am currently in the 5th grade and enjoy spending time with my friends, reading books, and drawing pictures.
I have two sisters and a brother, and we love spending time together in the park near our home. We enjoy playing ball, tag, and other games. At home, I help my mom in the kitchen and keep my room clean and tidy. My mom works as a cleaner in a kindergarten, and when I can, I help her organize things there as well.
My favorite foods are varenyky, red borscht, and, of course, sweets! I also enjoy attending church activities where we sing songs and listen to stories.

She has a special love for her family and cares deeply for her mother, sisters, and brother. At school, she enjoys learning and especially excels in Art and Ukrainian Literature, where her creativity and imagination shine. Anhelina lives with her mother, two sisters, and brother in a modest home in western Ukraine. Her parents are divorced, and for many years her mother has carried the responsibility of raising four children on her own. After serving in military operations in eastern Ukraine, the children’s father left the family and no longer maintains contact with them or contributes to their upbringing. Since then, Anhelina’s mother has worked tirelessly to provide for her children, doing everything in her power to ensure they are loved, cared for, and protected.
The family survives on her mother’s small income as a kindergarten cleaner. Although she works hard every day, the challenges of supporting a family of five on a single salary are overwhelming. Rising living costs, economic hardship, and the ongoing effects of the war have made it increasingly difficult to provide for even the most basic needs.
The family’s living conditions are extremely challenging. They live in a small section of an aging house inherited from relatives. Their living space consists of a tiny kitchen and a single room where the entire family eats, sleeps, studies, and spends their time together. With five people sharing one room, privacy and personal space are virtually nonexistent. There is no bathroom inside the home, and the family must use an outdoor toilet throughout the year, even during the harsh winter months. For bathing, they rely on a small portable tub and other makeshift solutions.
The house itself requires significant repairs. The walls need renovation, the shared hallway is in poor condition, and both the interior and exterior of the home require ongoing maintenance. Unfortunately, the family simply does not have the financial resources needed to improve their living situation. Despite these difficulties, Anhelina’s mother works hard to create a clean, loving, and welcoming environment where her children can feel safe and cared for.
What makes this family truly remarkable is their strength, love, and determination. Despite the hardships they face, Anhelina’s mother never gives up. She continues to sacrifice for her children every day, putting their needs before her own and doing everything possible to give them a brighter future. In turn, Anhelina and her siblings have learned the values of kindness, gratitude, and perseverance.
Anhelina remains a joyful, hopeful child who loves learning, helping others, and dreaming about the future. She has so much potential, but her family’s limited resources make it difficult to provide the opportunities and stability every child deserves.
