Dear sponsor,
My name is Volodymyr, and I am 10 years old. I live in a city in Ukraine. My mom is on maternity leave right now, and she sews clothes at home. I also have an older brother named Artem. He works with teenagers, and I think that is really cool. My best friend is Danik. He is always cheerful, and we play lots of different games together, which is why he is my best friend.
For Christmas, my whole family celebrates together. We all gather, eat the delicious food my mom cooks for us, and then we go to sleep feeling happy. In the summer, I like to relax and go to summer camp. I am in the 4th grade, and I walk to school every day. I study from 8:30 in the morning until 3:30 in the afternoon. I don’t really like that the lessons are so long, but my favorite subjects are math, writing, and reading.
My favorite food is pasta with cheese and an egg. On holidays, my mom always makes something tasty for us. When I have free time, I like playing on my phone. When I grow up, I want to become a police officer so I can help people.
Thank you very much for wanting to help me and my family. I would really like to know more about you too. How old are you?
Your friend,
Volodymyr
Caseworker’s Report:
Volodymyr is a bright, active, and energetic 10‑year‑old boy who is currently in the 4th grade. He loves physical education and reading, and he takes his responsibilities at home seriously. Every day he helps his family by carrying water from the well and cleaning the house — small tasks that show his maturity, kindness, and desire to support his mother. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and has a growing interest in studying the Bible. He regularly attends the Church’s Day Center, where he not only participates in activities but also helps the team organize events for other children. His willingness to serve others at such a young age speaks volumes about his character.
There are four children in the family. The oldest brother, Artem, is active in church ministry and is studying while living in a rented apartment, doing his best to support himself. Bohdan, the middle brother, attends school, and the youngest sister, Milana, goes to kindergarten. All of the children are at ages where they require significant attention, care, and resources. Their mother carries this responsibility alone.
The family’s situation is extremely difficult. Volodymyr lives with his mother and three siblings, while the parents live separately. This leaves the mother solely responsible for raising and providing for all four children, creating a heavy emotional and financial burden. She is currently on maternity leave and tries to earn extra income by sewing at home, but the work is irregular and the income is far from enough to cover the family’s basic needs. On top of this, they must pay rent for their small home, adding even more pressure to an already fragile situation.
Their living conditions are deplorable. The family rents a small two‑room house with no running water — they must carry water from a well — and the toilet is located outside. The interior is old, and the windows and doors are worn out, making the house very cold during winter. To keep warm, they use whatever materials they can find to insulate the doors. Although the house is located in the city center, which makes it easier for the children to get to school and other facilities, the living conditions remain far below basic comfort standards.
Despite all these hardships, the family remains open, hopeful, and eager to grow. The mother attends church services, and although she has not yet made a personal decision to follow God, she is searching and willing to learn. The children’s involvement in the day center has had a positive impact on their development, helping them build healthy values, friendships, and emotional resilience.
This family urgently needs support. Their most pressing needs include groceries, clothing, and help improving their living conditions. Sponsoring Volodymyr through HART’s Child Sponsorship Program would not only transform his life but also bring stability and hope to the entire family. Your support would help provide nutritious food, school supplies, clothing, emotional and spiritual care, and a sense of security that every child deserves.
Volodymyr is a thoughtful, responsible, and kind-hearted boy with so much potential. With the help of a sponsor, he can continue to grow, learn, and dream — and his family can begin to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. Your support could be the turning point that gives this family a future filled with possibility.
