An Overwhelmed Sponsor’s Story
A Grandmothers Gratitude To A Sponsor
One of the highlights in my HART Child Sponsor experience came a few years ago. I had traveled to Ukraine with a team of ladies from Canada that had several objectives.
Firstly, we were to participate and help out in a children’s summer camp. Additionally, we had the chance to observe several ministries HART was partnering with in Ukraine.
Finally, we were scheduled to visit the children we were sponsoring through HART.
One of the reasons I chose to sponsor Mykola was because his disability, which occurred at birth, could have easily been the same situation for my own son.
As our team walked along a washed-out country village road toward Mykola’s home, where he lived with his grandparents, his Baba (grandmother) hurried out to greet us.
Through our interpreter, I listened as this lovely elderly Baba passionately praised God for ME, Mykola’s sponsor!
I had been eagerly looking forward to meeting them, but in that moment, I felt overwhelmed and humbled by her sincere gratitude. I think I ended up crying throughout the entire visit.
