Ukraine at War – Update 13, 2024

UKRAINE CRISIS

THE SCOPE OF THIS TRAGEDY

I realize it is hard for us in the West to fully grasp the scale of Ukraine’s crisis since the war began on February 24, 2022. Perhaps this illustration can help us process the magnitude of this tragedy from another perspective.

According to the United Nations, 6.5 million Ukrainians have fled the country (to Europe or Canada/USA), with an additional 6-7.5 million being internally displaced. Let’s consider this: 12 to 14 million Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their homes for safety are equivalent to the entire population of Canada’s four western provinces (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba).

Imagine if everyone in Western Canada suddenly had to abandon their homes and possessions and were forced to migrate to Eastern Canada or the USA to protect their families.

Please continue to pray for this conflict to end.

Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure Crisis

Russian forces continue to pummel Ukraine’s energy infrastructure through sustained missile and drone attacks. Up to 50% of Ukraine’s power grid has been destroyed. By winter, the majority of Ukrainians will be facing prolonged periods without electricity each day.

HART’s team on the ground has already begun purchasing necessary survival items (see list below) as well as food packages and medications.

How can you help?

Please stand with us so we can continue to impact tens of thousands of lives through HART’s network of churches throughout Ukraine. Selfless pastors and church volunteers are working around the clock to meet the needs of their fellow Ukrainians and share God’s love with them. And as one of our partner church pastors says: For the darker the darkness, the more precious and bright the light!

Thank you for supporting churches across Ukraine!

We are SAVED to SERVE

God saves people not just for their own sake but to use them as instruments of His love and grace in the world. Denys’ story beautifully illustrates the ripple effect of compassion and service. Growing up in a home environment that was horrific, loveless, and alcohol-ridden but saved by someone’s compassion, Denys now pays it forward by extending the same love, care, and guidance to others.

How HART Evaluates and Chooses Partners

Accountability is a core component of HART’s partnership strategy. So, in addition to recommendations, on-the-ground examination of potential partners is mandatory.

This report offers insight into how our Ukraine team, led by Yevhen Taran, evaluates ministries to determine support levels and selects new partners. Join HART’s team as they discover a couple of new ministries doing amazing work for God.
