Ukraine at War – Update 04, 2026

How Should Christians in the West Respond to the War in Ukraine?

As this devastating war grinds on into its fifth year, the toll on believers across Ukraine is profound. At the same time, many Christians in the West feel the strain of a conflict that seems to have no end. We invite you to prayerfully read and share the following reflection. Here are five biblical responses to this question.

On behalf of all of us at HART—and our network of dedicated and courageous church partners across Ukraine—please accept our sincere thanks. Over these past four years of war, you and the entire HART community have been faithful and unwavering in your support of Ukraine.

Your prayers, generosity, and encouragement are doing far more than meeting urgent needs. They are strengthening local churches, sustaining families under unimaginable pressure, and advancing the witness of Christ in places where hope is desperately needed.

I recently asked Pastor Serhiy, who serves in southern Ukraine near the frontline, a simple question:

“What would you want to say to HART supporters?”

His answer speaks directly to you. Please take a moment to read his thoughtful response.

With heartfelt gratitude,

HART LEGACY STORY

Chaplaincy Ministry in Ukraine

Dear Friends, The fruits of our cooperation with HART continue to bring blessings. From 2015 to 2025, we conducted 104 chaplaincy training workshops, eight conferences, and trained more than 5,000 current and future chaplains. Through your spark of love, a great fire of God’s glory was ignited.

We remember with gratitude the path the Lord allowed us to walk together. May God continue to lead and open His perfect timing for all things. We are still united by a shared vision and a love for ministry.

With prayer and love,

Valeriy Trufanov

Child Sponsor Program

Yeva’s heartfelt letter to her sponsor from Vancouver, BC.

“…The HART Child Sponsorship Program became my path to the Church and to God. It was my support and my hope during difficult moments, and it taught me what sacrificial kindness truly looks like, especially toward people who are struggling.

I carry so many meaningful memories from my time in the Program: the meetings and fellowship, the new friends I made, the connections that shaped me, the camps and gatherings that filled my heart. These moments will always stay with me as warm, bright memories.

Many of my dreams came true because of you through the Child Sponsorship Program. Your letters gave me strength and helped me feel valued and seen.” –Yeva, 15 years old.

Senior Care Program

Thank YOU – for supporting Seniors in Ukraine like Paul!

Today, Pavlo (Paul) is no longer invisible or forgotten. Thanks to the kindness of people like you, he has warm meals, clean clothes, and a community that loves him.

Thousands of seniors need support, not just hundreds, like HART’s community is currently helping. Our monthly budget is small ($4-5000) considering the overwhelming need.

Please pray about ‘giving monthly’ to Senior Care. $15-20-25 will go a long way toward helping our local churches in Ukraine reach out and show love to lonely seniors.

READ about Paul’s life. Thanks for being an important part of his story!
